I am struggling to find words for this next rec. Just the other day I made that post about TV credits, and declared my love (likely for the umpteenth time) for the True Blood credits.
lim's "
Dilute" actually integrates those credits, and uses them as a seed to create this thing of sexy, visual joy. At the same time, this vid is (as I see it, at least) an (albeit playful) exploration of Bill's character as he rejects his vampire self/animalistic tendencies. I also feel that by using the credits, the vid more broadly gets at True Blood's play with questions of human libido, desire, and repression/control/self-denial. Oh, and all while poking good fun at Bill and giving Eric his due.
I love, love love the kinetic energy of the editing with the music--it makes me want to grab onto images in particular moments, which is just the same way I feel when I'm watching the credits themselves. And the use of color too is something special. I feel like this vid beautifully combines the evocativeness of the True Blood credit sequence with the unapologetic excess of the show. And so yes, I'll stop talking now, and just let it speak for itself.
