From all the possible situation to meet your future boss (he's still unaware of the honour but his group has the most powerful lasers in the whole institute, so he's doomed!), I got introduced to him while knitting. The look of rage and concentration on my face hardly that of a strong work enthusiasm. (which is still somewhat better than my usual expression - a neat mix of sleep-deprivation and annoyance).
My friend still insist, I made quite a nice impression. The old schemer. She was the one to introduce me to both the mystery of the knitting and her research group (that one with the lasers). Well, her boss does have an endearing American accent, so maybe he has good sense of humour after all. He's from the University of California but is teaching in Göttingen for a few years now and I really like his lecture. We'll see...
Knitting, on the hand, with all its unruly, disobedient stitches only makes me aggressive. Which is a bit unfortunate since the activity is highly addictive.
Well, I'll have plenty of time to practice during the holidays. After visiting his parents, my parents, writing a 20-pages long protocol from my last lab course, solving several homework sheets and reading a few books.
Or I could just keep on knitting - it's turned to be a perfect procrastination tool. My best friend is an evil genius and wants me to fail in every other area of activity :(
I might be internet-less for a few days but at least next weekend there will be net connection again. So, Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and great holiday to all of you!
