cuckoo-talk

"What did he say?"
"I cannot recall his exact words, sir, but he drew a comparison between your mentality and that of a cuckoo."
"A cuckoo, eh?"
"Yes, sir. To the bird's advantage."
[From "Episode of the Dog McIntosh", P. G. Wodehouse]

The prologue describes my current mental state quite accurate; a bit above your average bird. (Also, I won't miss an opportunity to quote P.G. Wodehouse, my new obsession ) The last few weeks were quite exhausting, so I don't even bother to pretend a bit of a standard and this entry will be an entirely light-headed one.

I'm almost done with the damn lab work! Yay, me! After the oral presentation on Friday I shall buy myself a bottle of champagne and sleep until the late afternoon....

Also, wearing a gas mask is only fun for the first 2 minutes, afterwards it's quite annoying. Fortunately for me, some of the masks were big enough to fit in my glasses, otherwise I'd be blind as an owl (-12 diopters) and God only knows where the chemistry-waste would have landed then... I'm glad we only have one social task to achieve (and 10 syntheses products -.-).
Did I mention I hate organic synthesis? Exactly how many times did I mention this in the last few months? XD

Right now I only have to write one more article and prepare two more presentations. I really don't know why we have to hold so many speeches, but my third one is about LASER, so I won't complain <3 (I mean, I can mention Star Wars in my slides!)
Another theme - I'm so besotted with Jeeves & Wooster lately, are there any fans on my f-list to share the love? ♥ Also, so far J&W proves to have the best porn written fan-stories I've ever had the pleasure to read. It seems that there are lot of semi-professional writers involved. (For the statistics, the highest level of fanwork has -in my humble opinion- so far the Sherlock Holmes fandom.)

Or any Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie fans while I'm at it? I mean, how could one not love these two idiots? They had anticipated Google years ago. Information, please (video). (+ German Dubs)

Also, last weekend we've seen "Die Möwe" ("The Seagull") - a  tragicomedy theater-play by Chekhov (ThOP photo-review) and it was marvelous! Not only is Chekhov one of my all time favorite comedian writers (though, I prefer his short stories, not his plays) but it was also a clever played act,  involving creative light ideas and fitting music. I just loved the 50s jazz-dance interlude, even if the more draconian critic might have thought them inappropriate. Dash it all, I had a jolly good time while the play and I won't regret it. (yes, I'm aware of the bitter end, death and suicides; and the rotten nature of the human character presented during the jokes and laughs.)
[8/10 stars]

P.S.: I've got the Tinker-Tailor-Solder-Spy film but haven't read the story yet, shame on me. So, I shall retire to the bed earlier this evening, with the book by my side and see if I can manage trough it tonight <3
