Venue

So after some serious prodding and discussions I accepted the idea of looking into other venues for the wedding. Free is always the best price but to really be comfortable for all the guests it would have to be a real intimate affair in the back yard. Intimate as in 40 people tops.

So the past couple days I busted out the laptop and really did some hard searching. Prices have varied between $1800 and $3500. Obviously amidst those numbers it put me to near disastrous emotional downfalls trying to put this all together while paying for it out of pocket. I have appointments to see two other places within the next week. Saturday is at a lavender garden seen here: www.havenhilllavender.com. Wednesday morning I am meeting with someone at the Creekside Golf Club for giggles. Doubt it would even be in a reasonable range but it doesn't hurt to obtain more information.

Today my mom and I went out to a fabulous vineyard called BeckenRidge. Their website is as follows: www.beckenridge.com and for the first time I saw the area and could actually picture how everything will fall into place. It was like a huge sigh of relief. They have an outdoor area which would be perfect for a ceremony along with indoors for dancing, dinner and a bar. Their fee is just as scary except they offer set up, tear down, clean up and the use of their tables and chairs that can accommodate up to 150 people. If we want to keep the Saturday wedding it would cost 2800 but moving it to a Thursday cuts the fee in half. (Same thing if you don't mention its a wedding at most places, too.)

So we have looked into catering and I don't want a sit down dinner but I don't want casseroles. Today I discovered a place that offers what I want and it isn't scary with pricing. Plus side is they have catered several of our events at the humane society. www.sassyonion.com

Flowers I haven't even touched. I was hoping to keep a budget under $1000 for the wedding party (which has turned into 10 including us) along with cake flowers and something for whatever arch we decide to use.

Between the new job, the planning and visiting my grandfather at the rehab center my dance card is completely full here. Did I mention my grandfather fell last week and had to have his hip replaced? I am looking forward to the new job. Working 6 days in a row then have a straight shot of 8 days off to get things taken care of!
