I’ve got some new friends so I thought I’d do this getting-to-know-you type meme! I will try to control its size but I’m doing a multi-fandom version of it.
Otherwise, my introductory post: I’m twenty-five, a woman, bi, and from London/the Home Counties. I teach English as a foreign language. I like reading and dancing and theatre and sparkles. I’m kinky IRL but not in a 24/7 kind of way. I’ve been in fandom almost ten years; I discovered it through Potter and HP is still my biggest fandom, though Buffy was much more my teenage obsession. I’m currently into superheroes, especially Marvel, and I love Gothic stories about teenage girls so Pretty Little Liars rocks my world. (Though not, shall we say, unproblematically.) I did English Lit at uni and I loooove literary analysis and meta.
Most of my friends are people I met through fandom (or mutual fandomy friends), which makes me very lucky and also changes my relationship with fandom, though I’m not quite sure how.
I’m very much the middle-class bohemian and lefty queer feminist. I don’t knit and I’m not a vegetarian but it’s really only a matter of time :)
Enemy ships tend to be my favourites, especially if the characters are literary parallels and especially especially if they used to be friends and/or have some kind of special connection and/or know each other well. Buffy/Faith, Harry/Draco, Ron/Draco, Angel/Spike, etc etc. I also tend to have a weakness for vulnerable, angry brunettes.
I write a lot of kinky porn but not solely that, and I read a lot outside that genre.
Characters I love: There are so many - I’m an ensemble fan and I tend to like most characters. I love Draco Malfoy at all points in his story; Narcissa rocks my world, she appears so late and changes the game; Harry is a darling; Ron is massively underrated.
Faith captives me and hurts my heart; Buffy is my beloved queen; Dawn is everything.
Zuko is hilarious and adorable and his family relationships fascinate me; Asami is so clever and funny and beautiful - I am going to stop there or literally list every Avatar character from both programmes.
Hanna Marin is my queen and Alison DiLaurentis is a fascinating creation. Santana is amazing and all her friendships are incredible; Rachel, Unique, and Puck all deserve 10000 x more love.
On the subject of comics superheroes - I love Natasha a painful amount. I never imagined how much I’d love Steve, and I adore Peggy and they hurt my heart. Thor is my darling. I love Loki, which is lucky, because my username is thirteen years old :) Jessica Jones is EVERYTHING and Cisco fills me with joy every single week.
Characters I love to hate: The Weasley twins - they’re bullies, and I am happy to explain why at great length ;D Nick Fury - once you suggest torturing a prisoner I am 100% done, even before his Winter Soldier disrespect for civil liberties. Will Schuester - he’s an awful teacher and I wasn’t a fan for a long time. His behaviour in The Quarterback - now, I do actually have sympathy for his pain, but he was so overwhelmingly horrible to Puck.
Favourite character to write: Draco; I’ve got the most practice with him. Plus I really love writing closely from the POV of someone who is obviously-to-the-reader being wrong and/or crazy and Draco is great for that.
Favourite character to draw: NOT an artist!
Favourite type of fic: I tend to look for hurt/comfort first in a new fandom, and I have a lot of enemyships - combining them makes me happy! But I also love kink, comedy, angst with a happy ending. People recovering, or not, from the war seems to be what I return to again and again in HP.
Favourite trope: H/C between enemies leads to love. Also power dynamics.
Trope I hate: Ice-prince!Draco. Draco often has very little control over his emotions - he’ll begin a scene coolly drawling and end it hexing people for being mean about his mother. Alternatively, a Thor who condones (or even participates) in torturing Loki. This drives me mad because FURY SUGGESTS IT IN CANON - and for practical purposes, not punishment - and Thor is not having it. At all. Fury doesn’t even bother trying to persuade him really.
The Sorting Hat would shout: Ravenclaw, no question. And I would live there happily with my books and super sudoku :D
My favourite Hogwarts classes would be: I really liked Astronomy as a kid, so probably that. I’m a massive humanities geek but I also enjoyed the physics/maths side of science at school and Hogwarts doesn’t seem to have a lot of that!
Character I am most like: I’m not sure I’m a lot like any of them; probably Hermione, though. I’m an opinionated bookworm and a bit of an activist, and we share an unpraiseworthy tendency to being an idealogue.
Currently writing: I just finished a fic, but I think I’m going to look for a prompt over at ron_draco_fest.
When I write I listen to: Nothing; music distracts me. Current favourite music, though, is Dessa, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, the Mountain Goats, the Beatles, and the Hamilton soundtrack.
Where my work can be found: On AO3, or using my three masterlists at the top of my journals. My more recent fic, including my 30k of DH-era Snaco, isn’t on there; but my drabbles and ficlets are, and they’re not on AO3 yet.

1. Burning Day by
ravenna_c_tan. Harry/Draco, 15k. This is beautifully written because the author is great, and has a lot of my favourite things in a story - Harry and Draco being exactly what the other needs without knowing it, dom!Harry spanking Draco, kink that feels real, and MANY MANY FEELINGS.
2. Women in Western Political Thought by
such_heights. The Ponds and various New Who characters, 2k. This is tiny and I usually have no time for AUs, but I love all the characters (oh AMY) and it’s FUCKING HILARIOUS. Especially if you, as I was, were part of student politics and an arts type.
3. Theft of Assets, Destruction of Property by helenish. Neville/Draco, 23k. This one is gorgeous hurt/comfort-y romance that breaks your heart and puts it back together again. Even if you don’t ship them, you will love them together desperately in this. The author also has an amazing, unusual prose style I just love.
Favourite fics of my own:
1. I Want Your Hard Centre (Not Your Chocolatey Shell) -- Neville/Draco, 5k. I got out some feelings about DH!Neville in this one, and I just really like them both in it. Draco is such a shit as he flails around and Neville is delightful.
2. Unforgivable -- Ron/Draco, 8k. This is pretty fucking dark, because it’s dubiously-consensual kink and it’s all about their sins from the war and before and whether they can recover, and it has my favourite ending of anything I’ve ever written.
3. Gaze -- Snape/Draco, 4k. Still darker! The only time my self-indulgent self has written rentboy fic, oddly, and I love writing/reading fic that uses something from canon to its potential for porn and feelings.
I’ve written fluff as well, and even fic with no sex in it :D It’s just not my favourite, apparently.
Favourite art of others: Oh my GOD this may actually be harder than the fic question!!!! ARGH. I am including dustmouth in my soul, okay.
1. Relax, Kitten by lizardspots. Non-con and incredibly beautiful and detailed and, if you have the right kinks, the hottest thing EVER.
2. Natasha by five--oclock on tumblr. Just incredibly beautiful, and the look in her eyes destroys me.
3. Breakfast of Champions by red_rahl. THE CUTEST BIT OF HARRY/DRACO YOU’VE EVER SEEN.
