Friday recs post: rules with an iron snit
Still catching up on recs I’ve done elsewhere, so the majority of this week’s recs are from when I recced Ron/Draco/Open over at crack_broom.
Harry Potter fic
To The Victor by . Ron/Draco/Harry; ~3100 words; NC-17; spanking, bondage, slightly dubious consent. Summary: Gay sex and spankings
This is an old favourite of mine. It’s incredibly hot, full of genius little details that turn up the heat. It has a dynamic I adore with R/D/H, which is Ron and Harry as a team, best friends who understand each other and work together seamlessly in fucking Draco. Even better, it’s really funny. Voldemort giving Harry fruit baskets and other bribes so Harry won’t kill him is hysterical, as is Harry’s little checked-off list of Horcruxes. And then there’s the hotness, Harry spanking Draco and Ron’s intense, insightful dirty talk. Just. Enjoy.
Gift by arsenicjade. Ron/Draco/Hermione, ~1200 words, PG-13. Summary: Challenge: Draco/anyone, book
This is short but feels like a complete story anyway, and an encapsulation of what I love about
arsenicjade’s writing - a down-and-out Draco who becomes part of a community and then a relationship. Hermione is perfectly characterised, and Ron appears only a little but is vivid and him enough that the dynamic between them all comes through clearly.
Steady by arsenicjade. Ron/Draco/Viktor; ~18 000 words; NC-17. Summary: Ron's a Quidditch player. Viktor's the head of the Subcommittee for International Quidditch Standards. Draco is his filing clerk. You do the math.
I ADORE this one. It’s lovely postwar fic, where Ron and the others have grown up but aren’t perfect; the war has taken Hermione’s voice, Viktor’s use of his right arm, and the twins. But they’re getting along. The way Ron and Viktor’s relationship begins is wonderful, and there is, as always in
arsenicjade’s fic, a strong sense of the friends and family around them - the wider supportive community is vital, and the fic never gets claustrophobic for all its focus on Ron and Viktor and Draco’s internal processes and slow falling in love. The prose has a gorgeous rhythm, the dialogue is great.
There’s a nice sense of the different dynamics - Ron and Viktor as fairly-new boyfriends, Draco working for Viktor and wanting him, and Ron and Draco managing managing to deal with each other being around. And then Draco ends up needing Ron, and Ron’s pissed off but helps him, and the two of them slowly becoming friends and just. It’s seamless and slow and lovely, and the hurt/comfort element of Draco’s loneliness and lack of touch, how Ron and Viktor touch him to help him survive before it tips over into something more - oh, my heart.
The Princess and the Panties by cursescar/Aspen. Ron/Draco/Harry; ~5000 words; NC-17; D/s, threesome, cross-dressing, bondage, spanking, dirty talk, some crooked-arse genderplay. Summary: For the Fantasy Fest's June wave.

Aspen is one of the best smut writers this fandom has seen, for my money; her writing’s full of clever phrases, vivid, uncliched imagery, and characters who are all so overwhelmed by what they’re doing that you end up the same way. The scenario is so much fun - Draco’s ended up at the Weasleys’ over the summer after defecting with his mother, and Harry and Ron are having some fun with him. Draco is spiteful and snotty and loving it, and Harry and Ron are BFFs having the time of their lives showing him what’s what. It’s a lot of fun with loads of great IC moments - Draco cringing from the orange of Ron’s bedroom, or Harry’s furious determination to make it clear that the Weasleys are his, not Draco’s.
Risk, The Unexpected by rons_pigwidgeon. Ron/Draco/Harry; ~3800 words; NC-17. Summary: If Ron had known how their night out with the mates would end, he probably would have dressed better.
Really hot, and there’s an appreciably different dynamic between each pair - Ron and Harry as best friends who experimented once, Ron and Draco as boyfriends, and Harry and Draco flirting but not quite sure of each other yet. Harry gets very dominant with Draco but it’s Ron who takes care of them both, and it ends adorably.
Misinformed by florahart. Ron/Draco/Harry; ~4700 words; NC-17. Summary: Where both Gryffindors find out Malfoy's still a virgin and decide to do something about it.
This is fabulously ridiculous. It’s super old-school, in a way I find charmingly nostalgic - evil!Lucius in the background, and using the pureblood culture and our lack of knowledge about it to make weird porn happen. And everyone is adorable, especially Ron.
The Malfoy Guide to Productive Extortion by Mirabella. Ron/Draco/Harry (later Draco/Harry); ~8000 words; NC-17. Summary: Harry's either drunk and horny or drunk and cuddly, depending on your point of view. Ron's straight but no one holds it against him. Draco could hand out detentions, but he has a better idea.
A classic for a reason! This is incredibly hot and I love the dynamic between each pair - Harry and Ron as drunken best mates, Ron and Draco ruefully discussing Harry and Hermione, and Harry and Draco ending on a beginning. But mostly it’s just the funniest thing ever - Mirabella really did have the best voice.
MCU fic

kvikindi.Howard Stark gen; 1100 words; Teen. Summary: "My father helped defeat the Nazis. He worked on the Manhattan Project."
The imagery in this fic is simply amazing. It’s a fantastic treatment of this part of the MCU (and of real America’s history on this front) and the Steve metaphor is the saddest thing ever. I love the line about Howard asking Zola about Poland - just one line that speaks volumes about who was recruited to the project and why.
Swoodiloopers fic
The Johns Green by [Bad username or site: certainlyuncertain @ site]. Bald John Green/Other John Green; ~165 000 words; Teen. Summary: John Bennett didn't have high expectations on his first day as a Swindon Town Swoodilypooper. Then he met his coach, his team and his bald, mustachioed future husband.
This is SO CHARMING you guys. It’s the story of how the Johns Green met, got together, came out, and won the cup. There’s a lot of lovely team stuff (Leeroy! Cteve! Fat Lucas!) and some great OCs. You cannot afford to NOT read 165k fic of Swoodilypoopers fic :D
