Bottom 5 things about America that bother me (in no particular order):
1. Apparently telling people in America that you think they look better without a beard even though they looked great in a whole different way with a beard is insulting.
You don't tell people they look better one way or the other. They always look good or you don't say anything. You tell someone they look better in any way and they assume you meant they looked awful before.
Little things like this just make me so...Ugh. I know this is one of those times when you eat what the chieftain gives you even though you know there's something in there made from parts of a goat that should never be touched. It's a cultural thing. But GOD DAMN. I just hate it when people twist words like that.
It pisses me off because I love words. I've loved words all my life. And I like my words. Words that I say are carefully calibrated to say exactly what I want to say. My father always taught me that a man says what he means and means what he says and it makes me mad to know that some people are so concerned about personal concerns that they'd make the words jump through hoops and peel them back and mash them up to fit whatever...
And it's such a selfish, self-centered, way to look at words. It's so sad and angry and uptight.
I'm so bothered I could vomit.
2. Single serving cheese slices wrapped in plastic. Come on! Really?!
3. Beggars with a sense of entitlement. Apparently, in America, beggars CAN be choosers.
4. "Reneging". Fucking hate this concept. It makes no sense. If people take back what they say that means they didn't mean it, made a mistake, or are sorry for what they said. Getting mad at someone for not saying (or, god forbid, thinking) the right thing all the time is retarded. People make mistakes. The nature of words makes it impossible to have no misunderstandings so get over yourself.
