Finally saw Winter Soldier

Eeeeeeee!  *bounces off walls*

So, seeing as my brother (usual comic book movie coconspirator) and the Eagle Scout (very reluctant comic book movie watcher and mostly only because he's pretty much Steve Rogers anyway) work stupidly long hours, I took myself to the movies tonight because I was sick of waiting.

WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME IT WAS SO GOOD?!?!  (I except
princessofgeeks , she said it was good, and I trust her even more than Fury trusts Captain America.)

Cut for spoilers, because there's maybe someone out there who still hasn't seen it other than me three hours ago?

I don't even know where to start.   No, that's a lie.  One starts with Chris Evans and his beautiful profile and stupidly tiny shirts.  I could watch those first five minutes of banter between Rogers and Wilson on repeat and be *just fine, thank you.* And the frequent hero shots up the torso with lingering golden light were fine by me too.  The camera really loves that man.

Also, all those people that write fic where Steve is relentlessly sweet?  Please, please watch this movie and notice that he is, in fact, a king of snark, and has been since the beginning.  He's just quieter about it than Tony Stark, who will call you out on national television just for fun (speaking of which, Romanov has clearly been hanging out with him too long, she was *so good* in that scene with the congressional review panel or whatever you want to call it.)  Steve *is* sweet.  That scene with Peggy broke my heart into a million shining pieces, but he isn't *just* sweet.  He's like his shield--deceptively light, makes a nice pleasant ringing tone, will break your hand faster than a block of concrete.

Also, can we please have a guest appearance of Falcon on Agents of SHIELD?  That would be all kinds of awesome, and would more or less make up for Ward, who even I want to shoot repeatedly in the face, and I was actually finally warming to him despite his ever so predictable (and apparently fabricated) backstory.  There should be much more Falcon, I love that Steve has a kindred spirit in the modern world ("I do everything he does, just slower."  <3).  A little Hawkeye wouldn't go amiss either (though I think they made a reference to him in a recent AoS episode??  Did I make that up by wishing too hard?)

The occasional reference to Stark was highly entertaining, ditto Banner , and credits scene 1 made me cackle and credits scene 2 made me cry.  Does Thomas Kretschman (or however his last name is spelled) ever get to play anything but a bad guy?

And as a museum person, I nearly cheered when Steve went to the Smithsonian.  I would *SO* give my arm to be in charge of interpretation and education for that exhibit.

Chances are good I may end up committing fic as I work through my reactions to the whole "whose lies am I telling" and the tricky actual plotty stuff, but I really loved it.  May drag the Eagle Scout to see it with me yet.
