Test Post of Rambling- Rookie Blue and Flashpoint, mostly

So glad LJ is back up.  I missed it.  I need a life.  Hopefully this post goes through.  I want to go back and see if I missed any comments because the notifications to my email has been spotty.

Anyway... I have thoughts, but I've been a little sick lately so I haven't been as active as I'd like, especially when it comes to Flashpoint.

Also, Rookie ( Read more... )

>> Feel free. I love discussing the show with you!

Well, same here so do feel free to ‘hijack’ my LJ as well ;o)

>> I think, if he is sick, there's a possibility that he kind of wants to be killed on the job, because his family would likely get a big insurance settlement. I don't want things to go that way, but if he's sick and feels like he's got a family that can't afford to take care of him, I can honestly see him wanting to go out in a blaze of glory. But only in this circumstance. He's not reckless or anything, but think he's very much put himself in the role of family protector that the thought of having to be taken care of just... makes him not rational. At all.

You know, I’d never thought of that! I was never really worried that they’d kill Wordy, but what you said would certainly have made sense! I’m kinda glad I didn’t read your post till a few hours before I watched the ep or I would probably have started to fret about that after all!

>> Well, despite the locks on their lockers, I'm pretty sure it's perfectly within the department's rights to search them as they see fit. Whether or not Ed had the right, without going above to Greg or the commander, I don't know. And I doubt it's a step taken lightly. He has to know that Wordy is fit, and has his back, and is being honest, and if Wordy is lying, as it seemed obvious, I get why he did it.

I understood why he did it, too, but I still think he could’ve handled it a little better. As we learned in The Better Man, they’d apparently been best friends for 20 years (though honestly, I never would’ve thought they were best friends) and I think Ed should’ve trusted Wordy enough to know that he would never do anything to jeopardize the team.

>> Yeah, this, basically. I think while Wordy would have thought he'd never put himself or his teammates in danger in any way, if he is sick, once he was in this position he found it hard to come forward. It's easy to think you'd do the right thing, but once actually faced with a situation that tests you... who knows how you'd really react.

This is true. I suppose Danny in Haunting the Barn is the perfect example. Ed probably would’ve trusted him with his life, and yet, there he was, holding SRU people hostage and waving a gun around.

>> Is this a family or a SWAT team? ;) just quoting the show... but yeah, I want them to get along and work together and not lose anyone else. I agree.

It’s a family AND a SWAT team! ;o)

>> I don't know what's going to happen. I don't want to see him die, either, but I won't be surprised if he does. But I don't want him to.

Well, it appears Wordy will be back, so I’m hopeful that he’s not just going to be forgotten. Also, I’m happy that he seemed at peace with his decision at the end of the ep. Maybe he’ll even get to spend more time with Shelly and his girls now that he no longer needs to be ‘perfect’ for Team One. ;o)

hee. okay. ;)

Given how the episode ended I felt kinda bad for even having this theory. ;) but I still could have seen this happen. So happy it didn't. I don't mind that they killed Lew, I think because it was so powerful an episode, but I'd have hated to see it happen again. I do stil miss Lew, too, though.

Yeah. Definitely. that was Ed in panic mode, I think.

I know, I thought the same thing. I thought they were good friends, and had known each other a long time, but I thought Ed's BFF was Greg. They've shown Ed and Greg being... um... I can't think of a word that doesn't make me seem slashy... but you know what I mean. Any time one needs to talk, it seems like Ed and Greg are closer.

yup. true. Danny is the perfect example.

Yes, it is. ;) I'm eager to see the new guy, but I already miss Wordy. I always think of Wordy and then think of the exchange between Spike, Leah, and Ed about having a thing for Wordy. Any time I think of Wordy, my automatic thought is always "who doesn't have a thing for Wordy?" ::sniff:: I'm gonna miss him. I hope we see him again soon.

Yes, true. I could probably watch a series that revolved around Wordy, Shelley, and the girls. I am sad to see him go and the episode made me teary, but as someone I don't remember somewhere pointed out, it wasn't really that sad of a way for him to go.
