Progress!

Surprisingly (to me) following the help desk suggestion of using the manual uninstall tool to clear remnants of prior installation attempts actually improved my situation, I think. Eset Internet Security still isn't installed but now, when I try to install with the MSI, I get an error saying that the Eset Service (ekrn) failed to start not that it failed to install, suggesting (to me) that it WAS installed and just isn't starting.  Alas, if I cancel the install and reattempt it I start getting the error saying it wouldn't install again. So I disabled Windows Defender (something else Eset's help desk recommended) and attempted the install another time... and I'm back to getting the error about ekrn starting.

Now, when I go to Services.msc and attempt to start the service manually I get an error saying the path's no good:

So no, the program isn't properly installed yet, but this is progress (I think).
