Sometimes Google is creepy in its insightful accuracy. And I mean that in the best way possible. For instance...
I need to learn more about Oracle administration, because Oracle is the bane of many people's existence at my new company, and being the new guy I've ( cheerfully? ) accepted the responsibility of dealing with it as much as possible. I have touched and installed it before, a few years ago ( remember Jim? Ugh. ), but I definitely don't know enough about it.
It should be running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, but I want to run it on a VM on my MacBook, and I don't want to deal with the licensing, so I turn to CentOS, which I know very well and know it's fully the same as RHEL. I like VMWare and I've been using it for a while, so I stick with it. Other VM systems are great too, but VMWare is my choice. Just as a sanity check before I get rolling and create the VM, I figure I'll Google ( yes, I'm using it as a verb ) to see if there are any issues. I've been searching online systems since the early 90's, so I have my own style of search that I've adapted over the years. I tend to cast a wide net and see what comes back before I narrow in.
So, I put in "can I run oracle 11g on centos?" This is what I got back -
Installing Oracle 11g on CentOS under VMWare on a MacbookCreepy. But excellent.
