I went down to the local community hall for one of their film nights this evening. The film in question was Paddington, which I never got round to seeing in a mainstream cinema. It's stuffed with spoilers, so I don't advise clicking on this unless you've already seen the film -- but what I will say here is that it gets 8.5/10, making it very much a recommended movie. I didn't get round to mentioning this at the time, but on Saturday I went to the Worcester Vue cinema with seven or eight other local bronies to watch the second Equestria Girls film, Rainbow Rocks. Actually, that's a bit unfair: some of the others are starting to grow on me. But for the most part, people like the remixed theme tune (because it's basically an official PMV!) and the big song-and-dance number in the cafeteria. It's not quite up to the level of "Goldfinger", but to my mind this is pretty much what a James Bond theme song should sound like. I don't know whether the surgery she had last year was a factor, but it doesn't seem to me as though Adele is quite putting everything into the song, which is a shame -- it's one of the reasons this is still ( Read more... )

I don't actually have a Blu-Ray player, but even for just the DVD version a fiver seems pretty decent value!
