First, the Meme:
If you woke up and I was in bed with you, what would be your first thought?
Second, the thoughts:
So, upon consideration, I don't think I'm going to do the
National Novel Writing Month again this year. True, I made the goal last year, and that was a lot of fun (and actually pretty educational), but I don't really want to do it again this year. I had an idea or two, but nothing's really got my inspiration up the way "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" did, so I'm just going to let it slide.
(Incidentally, the offer to read "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" is always open- shoot me a message and I'll send you a copy. It's not great, but, y'know, it was written in a month.)
I do think that I'm going to challenge myself to attacking DEMON full-force during November. 2,500 words a day of DEMON would, well, speed up the process of the story by quite a lot. (It would more than finish out the first arc...) That's probably asking a bit much, especially since DEMON is meant to be ultimately publishable. But I don't think it's unreasonable to make myself do 1500 words a day... So that's this year's challenge. 1,500 words of DEMON a day, with some days off for good behavior.
Other topics...
I've started on a side project in addition to DEMON- just something I'm fiddling around with at the moment, really. The Hi-Fi LoFro Radio Show is five hours long this year, and I really think it could be worth it to find something to do with that time besides play music. (Not that I'm opposed to music shows, but there's other things that could happen.) One of them is a radio drama, and that's the side project.
Hopefully, INGRAM MYSTERY THEATER (featuring Ingram from Detective Story) will start in January, when we get back from school. Personally, I think that Brach narrating the opening scene of Detective Story is one of the more chilling things I've written, and with the proper acting, it could be really cool.
(Another incidentally... If you want to listen to the Hi-Fi LoFro Radio Show, you can listen to the internet broadcast over at
the 107.5 website. In addition to music, I occasionally read things I've written, so if you ever wondered what I sound like while reading, here's your chance. (I know, I know: earth shattering stuff.) The internet broadcast is kind of unreliable, though, so I can't guarentee it works.
Anyhow, I ought to go to sleep. G'night.
