Not long ago I was asked, what books to recommend to someone fairly new to reading for pleasure (yes, there are people like that, sadly). To be honest, first books I could think of were some of the ones you should NOT, under any circumstances, open. Ever.

Once it was only the good novels that were praised, now its any old crap that happens to take someones fancy.
Just careful what you insult, after all, most people know that the first H.P book was utter drivel, at least in literary prowess if nothing else.

On the other hand, people start to read alltogether, so there is still hope that with time they actually develop some semblance of literary taste. If shitty books is start for them, that's fine. If they stay at Twilight level, that's their loss, and my huge annoyance, hence this post. :)
And well, I'm not touching HP anymore, I already did my share of spitting venom in that direction, even tho as a whole I kind of like it.
But wait, what do you mean "careful who you insult"? Why? Stephanie Meyer or JK Rowling or who-fucking-ever is gonna send me anthrax in the mail if I thrash their books?
It's the goddamn internet, and I'm entitled to expressing my opinions.

But I don't get it. Are you trying to warn me against rabid fans? So they'd froth at the mouth if I trash their precious books, so what? Will THEY send me anthrax? No, they won't.
Or did I insult some books you like and are politely trying to tell me to shut up about it?
Fine I will. Unless it's Twilight or those Charlaine Harris books.
