I can't say Butcher ever fails to bring it.

I thought I was going to make a coherent post on this, so I held off from posting the moment I got done (around midnight on Tuesday), but apparently that's not happening (at least for the moment) so disjointed thoughts below the cut.

* OMG. WTF. Cliffhanger?!?! (I mean obviously Harry is not dead since it is not the end of series as far as I know but still, the one thing that makes waiting bearable is that Butcher usually wraps things up for the moment at the end of the book.)

* Wow. I really should have written that Sanya/Murphy fic that I've been meaning to for the last year and a half.

* Am I the only one that thinks possibly Murphy is going to end up working for the FBI since Tilly likes her so much and possibly now is a believer? I mean much as I want her to take up the damned sword.

* And along with that shift, maybe we are going to be going "offsite" more often. I feel like this book really shows Butcher wanting to change things up... he was tired of Harry's house, his car, etc. Possibly he wants to get out of Chicago more as well.

* Okay, so this is the second time Thomas almost ate Molly. Does anyone else feel any weird shippiness potential?

* Does anyone else feel there is a plothole in the whole McCoy is Harry's grandfather with the whole uncle situation? Unless Justin wasn't really his uncle and somehow everyone in the Council was actually fooled into thinking his mom belong to another magical line. Because otherwise either everyone would know McCoy was their father or people wouldn't know they were siblings. Or am I missing something?

* I thought the whole bringing back up Molly being into Harry in this book was weird and unnecessary. Especially, since they didn't go anywhere with it.

* Holy fuck, he just destroyed the entire Red Court species apparently. Which begs the question of how far out this curse would really have worked on Maggie. I mean presumably all of us are bound by a common ancestor somewhere along the line right?

* I kind of love the theme across the members of the Unseelie Accords that the old guard has had their time and they need to be replaced (The White King, The Red King, The White Council in large part).

* I don't really know what to make of the Winter Knight situation, except OMG he WENT THERE and to wonder if Harry is going to start using ice magic more now.

* I didn't really love the whole "Susan is playing Harry, no wait she's not" situation and how it was flipped so carelessly back and forth. It was tacky. There would have been interesting ways to play with that idea but the execution was bad.

* I did love how Susan gave him the leather duster and with the end of her came the end of it.

* I am torn because I loved how so many characters showed up, but I sort of feel like many of them got underused because of trying to fit everyone in.

* So now that the Reds are gone, there is going to be outright civil war amongst the White Council isn't there?

* Goddammit, I knew that was too easy but you just had to tease us with Harry/Murphy and then give us a completely different cliffhanger didn't you, Butcher? After so much waiting.
