It occurs to me that I added some people before I left for vacation and haven't really gotten to know them at all. So Meme:

Ask me one fannish and one non-fannish question. I will answer both and ask you one of each as well.

I still love Buffy/Faith best, but out of things that I am watching now-ish I would say Babylon 5's Susan Ivonova and Talia Winters.

Yes. Except I suspect that LawCone has decided to hate it, so that might harsh on the squee. Thoughts?

I have noticed that myself. Will have to deliberate, as harshing of sexy Pevensie warriors is clearly not allowed.

Where are myyyy questions?

It is a good thing to consider.

/fail.

If you could change the medium of any one of your fandom's canon, which would it be and to what?

If you could change one fact about the actual real world, what would it be?

What show are you watching that you wouldn't mind if it didn't come back?

Where would you live if you had to leave the Bay Area?

Well I'm only really watching Bones, Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who these days (someday I will catch up with 30 Rock!)and I'm totally behind on two of those. It's sort of cheating, but I am glad that BSG is not going to be coming back. I would be strangely saddest if Bones did not return.

This is actually a question I've though about a lot. I really liked both Boston and Chicago, but I'd also really enjoy spending more time in New Nexico; the southwest is neat (and warmer than either of the other options).

1) If you were to be trapped on an island with only one show for the rest of your life, which would you pick?

2) If you suddenly became independently wealthy, how would you spend your time?

1. Oh God. Not this question. I think I always default to Buffy on this one since, well, I'd get seven seasons out of the deal! And it has good comedy and good drama and good action for whatever mood I'd be in.

2. Watching stuff! Reading stuff! It would be like an eternal weekend since I wouldn't have to work. I would finally have time to watch and read all the things I wanted. But that's not all, folks. See, since I'd be rich as crap, I could also afford to visit my friends around the country and even around the world! And when I was at my own place, I could throw parties and bribe people to visit me with food. Oh, goddammit, now I want to be independently wealthy.

I know it's an evil question, but it's just such a natural one with you being... well you.

Sorry to make you pine for millions as well.

yeah we became friends a while ago but I haven't really talked to you so...

what is your favorite ship from your top three books?

and

no points for originality. what is your favorite color?

You totally count! I've fallen really behind on getting to know people on my flist. Besides, this was totally open to even my longest standing friends.

Top Three Books - Ships:
1) Notes from Underground, Fyodor Dostoyevsky - Underground Man/Self Loathing
2) Catch-22, Joseph Heller - Yossarian/Chaplain Tappman
3) (cheating)A Song of Ice and Fire, Geroge R.R. Martin - Jaime/Brienne

As for my favorite color, a sort of aquamarine shade, softer than turquoise or teal but somewhere between blue and green.

Questions for you:

1) What was your first fandom?
2) Are you a dog or a cat person?

My poltergeist is messing around again. That's the colour I'd - randomly - picked to represent you in my friends list.

That totally brings a smile to my face. I used to represent myself with that color when I still did colors on my flist like two journals ago.

1. Would you still watch Bones if it wasn't about crime solving (but, let's say, a medical drama), but the relationships between the characters stayed the same?
2. What's your favourite season/time of the year?

Reply

lodessa May 13 2008, 15:15:48 UTC
1) Provided the balance of genre/tone was maintained, absolutely. The crime solving is always interesting, but it's not why I love the show ultimately.

2) I've always liked spring, partly because I have a somewhat mild case off SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and when it gets dark/grey I tend to feel depressed and also because my birthday is in spring. Sadly, as my allergies get worse I don't really get to enjoy spring as much as I'd like. I've also always been a big fan of the first few weeks of September, when school starts back up and everything seems so fresh and clean and full of possibility, but the last few years I've just felt frustrated with myself that I am not working towards anything real and another year is being wasted. Wow that sounded way more negative than I meant it.

Questions for you:
1) Is there a character that you particularly identify with?
2) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

It's not why I love it either. In general, I tend to watch my shows for characters rather than for the plot particular to their genre, Dexter and Rome being probably the only exceptions.

I really like it when it's warm and green ( ... )

Speaking of Bones, have you gotten a chance to see last night's episode?

Hello :)

1) Asoiaf: Name 3 characters you think aren't going to live through the next book and why

2) Cliched question, but if you were gifted with a supernatural power (ala Heroes) which would you want to have?

Reply

lodessa May 14 2008, 15:16:06 UTC
1) That's hard. I have a lot of suggestions for people who won't make it through the whole series, but just the next book is hard, particularly since it's going to take place with the more isolated characters. So I will make two lists:

During the Next Book(less certain):
a)Daario
b)Satin (or did he already die?)
c) One of Dany's handmaidens.

By the End of the Series(pretty damn sure):
a) Melisandre
b) Ser Jorah Mormont and Ser Barristan Selmy
c) Edmure Tully

For you:

1) What made you decide to take the leap from liking ASOIAF to becoming involved in the online community?
2) If you could go back in time and change one thing you did in the past, what would you change, and why?
2) Probably teleportation powers. I've always wanted those.

Ah an interesting response to the predicted death question ( ... )

I really need to find the list that sophia_helix and I were working on about people's chances of dying and what kind of deaths they were likely to have in the verse. I know Melisandre had like a 99.5% chance of a heroic evil death (categories also including: heroic good[Jaime mostly likely falling into this category], ignominious[Cersei's working on this one..Tywin's already passed this way], senseless tragedy[the younger Lannister kids probably are heading towards this one], etc.[just another number for the death count], and RIP[which consists pretty much solely of Catelyn Stark staying dead instead of being a scary zombie ( ... )
