Ooooooooh. How sad, and kind of creepy. And mostly sad. :Sigh: Poor Jake.

Really, I don't say that often, 'cause he made some shitty decisions. But you made him very real, very human and likeable. This is so melancholy, it makes me melancholy too. Very good writing.

One thing bugs me--that you use numbers instead of the written out versions, like "20" instead of "twenty." The numbers look weird, like math in the middle of a story (which I guess they kind of are, but do you know what I mean?) Anyway, it's just a pet peeve of mine; feel free to ignore me.

I still love this story.

Every time I re-watch season 1 I start to feel more and more sad for him. Because yes he made bad decisions, but he made them for the right reasons, and his reaction to the Lilly tribute video always gets me.

You are probably right about the number thing, this is what happens when I just post a story instead of getting it betaed.

That was AWESOME. I hate Duncan, but I always did like Jake Kane for some reason, and I've never read a piece with him before. I think you captured his character very well, and it's great to see what he might have been going through when we didn't get to see it!

Jake is more and more sympathetic to me every time I watch season 1. The part where he's smiling while crying at the Lilly tribute video, his interactions with Duncan in "Return of the Kane", and that horrible and beautiful moment where he tells Duncan why they covered up Lilly's murder.

I've been thinking about the Kanes' absence in the current season a lot recently, because they were such a big part of the original premise and i rewatched season 1 recently.

I sort of really miss Jake meaning well, Celeste being a total bitch, Lilly's sassy ghost, and Duncan jumping off bleachers and thinking he is in love with his sister.
