did i put that pubic looking french word for 'published' on the correct side of the self-identifying noun? i am a poet because i invent grammar and my franglais/frebrewlais an awful lot on the fly. sigh. none the less...

http://www.connotationpress.com/index.php/featured-guest-editor/poetry-january-2010/293-jojo-lazar i've been published in the journal, Connotations! (have a shortcut if you fancy,
http://bit.ly/connotations)
i owe it to my mentor and WILLA (women in literary arts and letters) co-founder, Cate Marvin. it was a poem first premiered/writ/commissioned by my alterna-nom-de-plumage, the burlesque
poetess(s). this was all a bizarre moment of art (jokes) imitating life, as at the Amanda Palmer secretwitter concert last summer, as part of my schtick i announced i couldn't finish my MFA as i was running out of poem-topics (har har), and here we are. carnie verse to victory! friends as muses bringing about the weird work that people want to publish? gawsh. blessed i am. so many thanks to my family/mentors/friends/band/beloveds.

intro piece&my amazing classmate at Lesley, Cole Krawitz's poem,
"dear lymphoma, aka hodgkin’s disease stage IIa, or was it b?"Kali Marie's poem, "
Rag" (a really startling piece i had the privilege of seeing in early workshop draft form)
Athena Edmonds's poem, "
Girls" (a really courageous/gripping piece wrt a young transgender'd son, it really choked me up at her graduation reading last year)
this is all rah-ther surreal. this picture is even from a moment of me reading the piece-in-question with
edrie at cloud club a few weeks ago (i read for Desperation). good goodness, 2010, let's do this thing! (LJ addition: no really, so friggin' far, so friggin' good, and only 2 days in? i feel crazy art-charged and ready to take on the stressful year of a post-MFA program grad. many big plans, much big art love to share. vomit. away. enjoy?)
