Originally uploaded by mlle. jml*ahem* i must say, inaugural poet Elizabeth Alexander...your poem had some really great stuff going on, but...um...couldn't you have started a stanza IN where there was a hook? where there was a bit of a startling and beautiful/mind-catching conceit going on? classic first draft in workshop wheel-spinning-stuff going on. i'm a jerk, but i was trained to respond to poems aurally and...monkeys.
for my 1st submission in this new semester of grad school (and this new CHAPTER OF HISTORY! ahaha) i am -so- going to find a copy of the poem (*oop! transcript!) and 'edit it' ;) yeah!
OoOoobama addressed America's "Jews and Hindus and non-believers" ! will the agnostic/atheist community take issue with that phraseology? and wot about us Bu-Jews?! well, all in all i say, Mr. President Obama-- awww! can we keep him? like, 8 years? (at least?)
edit-dition 1:30pm :: i also want to say that today my mother is in NY at the United Nations, continuing to present/fight for her international peace enter, FEIPC. she is apparently being stymied by the few expected nations (i'm summarizing all this, poorly, but)-- i love her for her courage and dedication to international agape. it seems apt, that though she will be delayed in her return home to DC that this is what she's up to today, in our nation. i love the world she is trying build. what could be nobler? yay hippymum and poetryspirituality in our president's address!
