The problem with sending your only real friend off to work in Haiti was that there was nobody left to be an audience to you when you were working. Peter's dramatic collapse back onto his bed, his muttered, "That's clever, isn't it?", his triumphant sigh-- they were all lost on his ceiling.
Damn it. It just wasn't the same without Natalie here.
He considered calling her, but that might come off as needy. I don't know how to have epic moments of genius anymore without you there to listen to me be it sounded all kinds of pathetic.
He sighed up at the ceiling. Less triumphant this time. "Okay, okay, it could use some work."
