CCEE 2018: Friday or The sun was so bright today

Apr 27, 2018 20:23

Whoo, parade day! Perfect weather today. I wish I had a group shot of the Doctor Who cosplayers, but I didn't think to grab one. There were these cute kids (twin siblings) dressed up as Twelve and Thirteen. Oh my god, they had so many people taking their picture. The parents are big Whovians themselves and they've been dressing up their kids since they were born.

A few pics (follow the links damn you Photobucket I can't even do thumbnails):

I appreciate the timey-wimey-ness of the two DeLorans and the Anne of Green Gables couple was the only Anne themed cosplay that I saw. They weren't just a random cosplay; Megan Follows, who is the definitive Anne for a whole generation of Canadians, is a guest at the expo. I chased down the Aloy cosplayer while waiting for the parade to start. It's not an easy costume to build, so kudos to her.

Once again, we were sandwiched in the middle of the parade, so we didn't get to walk in front of or behind any of the guests in the cars. Oh well.

Oh, I was Ace again this year since I had to carry stuff in a backpack. I just love Ace's costume. She's one of the few characters where a backpack can be a part of the cosplay. And it seems like I'm the only Ace cosplayer in the city. A guy commented that he's never seen an Ace cosplayer before and then asked me for my picture. Actually, I got a few nice comments today. Good to know that I have an unique costume.

The only other thing I did today was sit in on some panels. There was Chris Sarandon from The Princess Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas and Fright Night. He was pretty funny and he had some good stories.

The one crazy thing is he can't do the voice of Jack Skellington out in public. A kid asked if he could say something as Jack and Chris Sarandon had to completely shoot it down. Disney won't let him. That's right. They are so proprietary about the property that he can't even do a line for the fans. Disney seems to rule with an iron fist.

The other panel I did was Amy Acker. She was actually in the parade, but she was probably further back, so I didn't get to see her.

She was all smiles and so cute. She's a lot like Fred in that way. Her answers weren't as solid as they could have been, but she was still fun to listen to. A lot of questions about Angel and Person of Interest and she mentioned that The Gifted was going to start filming season two in a couple of weeks. So it was nice that she had time to come to the expo.

Saturday is going to be a little more packed schedule wise. I need to grab Wil Wheaton's autograph and potentially give him a knitted Wesley Crusher doll that I made him. Here's hoping he's accepting gifts.
