I finally started playing Mass Effect: Andromeda yesterday. I can already foresee that I won't be getting much else done. I had forgotten how much of a time-sink these games can be.
But I'm enjoying it so far. I screwed up the character customization (you can customize both the main character and their twin), so I restarted the game late last night, but I think I'm on the right path now. I'm still getting used to the new HUD and map system and figuring out what buttons do what on the controller. For my other Mass Effect playthroughs, I was on my Xbox 360 and my muscle memory is for the layout of that controller. Yesterday I was hitting buttons to enter cover and suddenly I was leaping up into the air. Not great if you're in the middle of a fight. But the dialogue options are much more robust now, so you don't exactly lean towards Paragon or Renegade, and there's just so much more detail in the visuals since it's a new game engine.
I've already picked up a bunch of side missions, but that's the hallmark of any RPG. Practically every NPC you come upon needs you to do something for them. If I was still unemployed, I would totally be glad for all of the free time, but I will have to continue exploring a new galaxy once I get home from work.
