Say it ain't so, C.C.!

I was somewhat stunned by the latest Starfighter page. The starbase seemed to have little difficulty blowing away the enemy (Colterons -- so happy to at least have a name now) in the first chapter. So the blockade is successful if the balance of power doesn't shift, but it appears there is little or no diplomatic work to resolve the conflict. I'd have never guessed times were so desperate.

Now I really want to know who these Colterons are and why they are fighting the Alliance. What would happen to Earth if the Alliance was defeated? Abel's father doesn't seem too concerned about the welfare of lowlife colonists, so he must not have felt very threatened at that time or he knows next to nothing about the Colterons.

I still want to say the Colterons are human although I could be way off the mark as usual. After reading the comments Hammie made in the_slash_pile Q+A and how genetic manipulation is being used by future!Earth society, I'm beginning to think the Colterons have done something even more extensive to themselves. Perhaps they see themselves as genetically superior to humans (ala KHAAAAAAAAAN!) or they might believe they are no longer related to humans. Shits going down and it's getting even darker. I love it!
