I had to snicker at Cain saying "thanks for the tip, kiddo" because my mother calls me kiddo sometimes.
I'm totally convinced that we can't take Cain at face value, and much of what he does, or has done, has to be an act which forwards his agenda. He seems to need an excellent navigator, and Abel fits the bill. I wonder if Cain is worried about Abel slipping away from him. We don't know what happened to those first two navigators, and it might not be them refusing to let Cain bully them or sexually dominate them. In fact, Cain might have used slightly different tactics with the first two. Cain seems like the type of person who could read another person -- what motivates the other person, what the other might be longing for -- very quickly. He would do whatever he had to do, his goal being to hook a partner into his secret plans.
I love stories about a protagonist who thinks he is going to do one thing, but ends up getting dragged along unwillingly into some crazy, dangerous and sexy adventure. I'm longing to see Cain, Abel, Deimos and Praxis end up on the same comic page, but then my computer might explode with all the hotness. XD
