I have been using the Wii Fit as a postpartum-weight-loss-possible-solution. Since it is winter and if it's not snowing, it is negative a million degrees in Illinois. I looked online to see if I could find anyone who has actually had success with the Wii Fit and losing weight/shaping up and really couldn't find any success stories; but not for the reason you would think. The reason I couldn't find out if people had success, no one stuck with it.
So, I felt good immediately after giving birth, even though my tummy looked atrocious, so after a few days I started working out on the Wii Fit. Here is my progress so far:
The progress is slow coming, but it is slowly peeling off. Unfortunately, thanks to stretch marks I fear my cute little tummy will never look the same. Here is me at 10 weeks preggo:
Here I am a week before giving birth:
Considering just how huge I was, I have to say not too shabby considering I only gave birth 6 weeks ago and for about 3 of those weeks I did little to nothing and I am not breastfeeding.
At this time, I am willing to say that the Wii Fit is working for me, but I am actually doing the exercises approximately three times a week. I try to do about 30 credits per time I play. I'd say a half an hour, however, with the baby hanging out with me and being alone it takes me about an hour to hour and a half to complete a 30 minute "workout". I try to do about 45% Strength and then 45% Yoga, (which I love because it helps me stay calm during infant freak outs), and the remainder Aerobics.Particularly I enjoy the Step or Super Hooping because you can't cheat on that. When it gets warmer, I will def be running/walking/jogging outside both with and without Elliott. I gained approximately 30 lbs when pregnant so I have a few before I am back at pre-preggo weight but I would like to lose a little more than that. Ideally I would like to be about 150lbs. Not too skinny, but a bit thinner than I was to start.
I figure, even if I completely plateau with weight, at least I am trying and some, even if it is a failed attempt with the Wii Fit, at least I am moving. I do feel like I am improving some. I can hold planks longer than initially and feel like my ab strength is coming back. I lost a lot of flexibility over the course of not moving around other than walking during pregnancy so I really emphasize that I do like the Yoga. It would be nice if you could string a bunch of moves together, like Down Dog into Cobra, etc, but I'll take it. I can make time for this and it works out pretty well for me right now.
