This week is my last easy week of work. I like to think of it as my training still, although yesterday I pretty much kicked butt for it being my second day working in the kennels. Last week I groomed on Thursday/Friday. I did the grossest cocker spaniel, Lady. She had scabs that I had to shave under and her ears were swelled shut. (her owner has alzheimers). As you can imagine, it took me 3 good scrub downs to get the smell off of me afterwards. But anyways, there was hardly room for me to groom. The owner wants me to groom in the way back of the kennels in the ward 4 tubs... but really its in the boonies and no one ever goes back there, unless they're cleaning kitty litter bins. Also it's really not set up to groom and he doesn't have the things to set it up right, nor will he buy them. So needless to say I won't be grooming there, at least not right now.
The kennel job is easy. I've trained for my second day yesterday, although I really wouldn't call it training, I got the hang of it pretty quick. I just work yesterday, Thursday 7-4 and Saturday 7-12 this week. But next week I'm going to work Mon-Fri 7-4. That week also starts the week that I'll be bathing the groomers dogs for the first half of the day and then going to work kennels after that until 4pm. I've pretty much learned that if it smells good and you keep busy, the owner will not bug you, but if it smells bad he'll search for the smell until he finds it and then give you a huge list of things to do. Everyone else there is great. It's pretty fun.
Other than work, things have been going great. I'm going to get certified in dog training here soon. Possibly go back to LCC in the fall (we'll see if I'm crazy busy or not because dog training takes at least 40 weeks). My sister and I are throwing a 25th Wedding Anniversary for our parents on June 2nd up at my Grandparents house. Zack and I are going to Mrytle Beach over the 4th of July for my friend Jennie's wedding and then we're driving all the way up north for another wedding on the 7th of July. Should be a great summer!
