Next month is the Korean election. This means that a lot of banners popped up around town yesterday; and one candidate, in an attempt to garner support, has parked a truck playing his theme song RIGHT OUTSIDE MY BUILDING. What is it about Asian elections and those damned screaming-vans? It's not like anyone even gets the message -- every one of my Japanese students complained about how annoying they were and how much they wished the vans would go away. When I described the plethora of annoying political ads that run on U.S. TV during election season, one student said, "Those are better, because at least you can turn them off." ^_~

Don't know that they'd listen to this request coming from a foreigner, but could you ask your building manager to ask them to park down the street? Anywhere that isn't in front of the bldg. Maybe the manager could tell them people inside want to vote against their candidate.

That's a good idea. The only problem is, my building is located next to one of the main rotaries in my town, and the van is really loud; no matter where they move, it'll still come right through my window! It's the price I pay for living in such a convenient location, I suppose. I'm sure it'll happen again (with a different candidate) in the next few weeks.

At least the noise only lasted a few hours. They finished around 9 p.m. ^^
