Fic: Heartbeats

Author: LMX
Fandom: X-men
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Remy/Logan
Warnings: None
Spoilers: For Remy's history with Sinister
AN: A Comment fic for theawfuldodger, X-men, Gambit (+ or / any), He doesn't like hospitals. Being stuck in Sinister's lab tends to do that to people, you know?

-

There are two pairs of hands - one on each shoulder - and another body at his back to stop him dropping out of their grip, arching and rolling away (he'd thought about it). Logan has a fist in the front of his uniform (over his heart) and is all but dragging him forwards. He couldn't escape if he wanted to.

He knows he's babbling, he can't stop, he's not even sure what he's talking about any more, (Dis boy don' like hospitals. Bein' stuck in Mr. Sinister lab... tend t' do dat t' people, y' know?) his head is fuzzy and his eyesight blurry, but he isn't going down now, not yet. He hates hospitals, hates them more than anything else he can think of (more dan gunshot wounds, t'ank y' *very* much, so jus' let dis Cajun be an' he...) but it'd be worse to be unconscious right now.

It's been nearly twenty years since he was last held in a lab (any lab, his lab, always his lab, no matter how long it been), but he still remembers every tiny detail from that huge expanse of a room. It doesn't look much like this little pokey room he's thrust into, suddenly six people around him, pushing the people he *needs* nearby out into the hall and isolating him (treatin' y', moron. Dey jus' tryin' t' help). It doesn't look like a lab, but he can smell that commercial cleaning product, sterile sharp edge, whir of air conditioning and that quiet pained gasping breath (dat's *you*, cher. Jus' you).

The panic is overwhelming, and the quiet buzz of his charge leaks into his fingertips where they're gripping the bars on either side of the bed. He can hear Scott's sharp tone even as Logan slams the door open and shoves half a dozen white coated (dey doctors, y' gotta get dis straight) men out of the way as the metal explodes in light, scorching and scraping at his hands as Logan pulls him up and out of the way. He might have shouted a little at how that pulled at the wound in his chest, but that faded out as his world narrowed to the sound of Logan's heartbeat where his ear was pressed against the other mutant's chest, and then faded to black.

Sinister had never had a heart beat like that.

Fic: Enforcer

Author: LMX
Fandom: Leverage
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Nate/Eliot
Warnings: Werewolf!Eliot, Werewolf!Sterling
Spoilers: None (potentially for 1.13 if you want to take Quinn as as an L.A. Were :D )
AN: A Comment fic for blinddreamer, Leverage, Nate/werewolf!Eliot, werewolf!Sterling, why Eliot reacts so poorly to Sterling

-

"You know, if he asked me to leave you I'd do it."

It was apro pos of nothing, Eliot leant tight into his side, watching the news with the sound turned low. "What?" he had to ask, bemused.

"You know what Sterling is, right?" Eliot added, sitting up and turning so that he could see Nate's face.

"A royal pain in my ass?" Nate offered, only a little chagrined that their calm evening in had turned to talk of his... nemesis for want of a better word.

"He's the enforcer for the L.A. pack. The pack I've insulted by being a rogue on their turf." Eliot frowned. "So far they know who I am and where I am and they're happy not to bother me because they know I'm rogue for a reason. If Sterling decided to make shit for me, it'd bring a lot down on the team."

"The team can handle…" Nate started, only to be interrupted.

"The team can't handle a pack of wolves, Nate. The team can't 'handle' me." There was an edge of a growl in Eliot's words. Meaning clear enough.

"Well then, *I* can handle Sterling." Nate retorted. "If he threatens you, or even suggests that you need to leave the team, you come to me. If I have to claim you into the Leverage pack, I'll do it."

Eliot looked at him like he'd lost it. It wasn't an unfamiliar look. "You can't just put together a bunch of people, of humans and call them a pack, Nate."

"Why not?" Nate demanded. "I'll need an enforcer. You could stand up to the L.A. pack's enforcer, couldn't you?"

Eliot laughed at Nate's easy smile, shaking his head. "You declare war on the L.A. pack Nate, they'll take us apart."

"Let them come."

Fic: Outside Help

Author: LMX
Fandom: Leverage/X-men
Verse: Mutant!Eliot 'verse
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Logan/Eliot
Warnings: Language
Spoilers: None
AN: A Comment fic for havenward, Leverage/X-Men, mutant!Eliot/Wolverine, team needs a new face for a job

-

If they're aware of what Eliot is, it's only in the abstract way that means they can appreciate how it makes him perfect for his job, but not think about any of the other implications. They've never debated whether Eliot was ever picked out of a group as different, or whether he ever had to have lessons to learn to control what was sitting under the surface. They never specifically targeted FOH goons unless they were part of some other plot, and Eliot never dragged mutant issues onto their to-do list.

But the fact is Eliot's been IDed by the mark, and now Nate has a piece of card on his desk with the number for a professor in New York who might be able to spare a guy who could help, and Eliot's giving him the 'I just found this puppy can I keep it' look.

"You're telling me you would vouch for this guy?" Nate asked carefully.

"I'd trust him with my life. Hell, Nate. I'd trust him with *your* lives. Logan's one of the best. He might well be the best."

"That's high praise." Nate acknowledged. "And you think his boss would be able to spare him?"

"I don't know." Eliot shook his head. "I only get to see him every couple of months. He's pretty damn busy."

"You go and see him?" Nate asked, frowning.

"Sometimes he makes it down here." A highly uncharacteristic blush was spreading over Eliot's features, and Nate thought he might have finally caught a clue.

"But does he know the rules we operate under?" Nate emphasised, frowning like he was about to say no. Knowing he had the upper hand.

"The Professor runs by the same rules, Nate." Eliot enforced hurriedly. "You don't need to worry about bodies, here. Look, Logan taught me everything I know about controlling… about control, alright? He's strong and fast and he doesn't get hurt easy. He's perfect for this job…" Eliot trailed off, eyes narrowing. "And you know that, so you're just fucking with me."

"How important is this man to you, Eliot?" Nate asked. "We'd be putting him in a dangerous position."

Eliot smirked. "Believe me, Nate. This, for Logan? Child's play."

Fic: You've changed

Author: LMX
Fandom: Leverage/Angel the Series
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Angel/(Lindsey!)Eliot
Warnings: Language
Spoilers: Not Fade Away (Angel Finale)
AN: A Comment fic for sheryden, Leverage/Angel, Eliot/Angel, "You've changed."

-

There's a breathless moment, when they recognise each other. The warehouse is full of people, but their eyes meet immediately. They work their way across the room to each other and take a moment. Their shared gaze has as much heat in it as it used to, but plenty more hate.

"I thought you were dead." Angel said, voice calm and low and grating across Eliot's nerves like it always used to. Sharper now.

"I am. You killed me." Eliot retorted.

"What are you trying to get out of this?" Angel snarled, gesturing at the party going on around them, "I know Wolfram…"

"DON'T." Eliot snapped, looking around him as if expecting his old employers to jump out of every crack and corner. "That guy is dead, alright. Shooting a fucking asset before one of the biggest battles of your life was entirely the wrong fucking thing to do, but it meant they aren't going to find him. They're not even looking."

Angel shook his head, not arguing the point. "Why are you *here*, Lind…"

Eliot took a step closer and shoved Angel up against the wall - stronger than Angel had expected, he'd forgotten the training the other man had, the mythical assistance gained in the time they'd spent apart. Times had changed. "For fucks sake, man. Get a clue. There are ears everywhere. My name's Eliot Spencer. I'm here for the hostage, I have a two million dollar claim on her. What are you hunting?"

"Nothing we can't handle." Angel pulled his coat aside just far enough to show off the tip of an axe. "Extract the hostage and we'll work around you."

Eliot took a swift step back, tense and taut. "You're gonna let me work? Not try and help? Not try the rescue yourself?"

Angel frowned at him, sagging back against the wall. "Should we?"

"You've changed." Eliot shook his head and disappeared back into the crowd.

"I've missed you too." Angel called after him.

Fic: Nice Moves

Author: LMX
Fandom: Leverage/X-men
Rating: PG
Pairings: Mild Remy/Eliot
Warnings: None
Spoilers: None
AN: A Comment fic for hawk_dancing, Leverage/XMen, Eliot/Remy, nice moves, cher

Eliot was involved with the fight, and so didn't register at first that he wasn't the only one fighting his corner. The other man was being careful though, making sure he stayed in Eliot's line of sight, never making any move towards Eliot, just picking off the outliers that might cause problems for the retrieval specialist while he was working on the couple who'd moved in close. He didn't register the other man as mutant until he'd downed his last fighter and he watched him slam his hand against his opponents chest and leave a pink glowing trace which pulsed for a moment before exploding the front of the flak vest, throwing the goon against the wall to slump to the ground. The man straightened, giving Eliot time to register that he was tall and (oh God, another) red head, and sporting the most lewd grin Eliot could remember ever seeing.

The mutant swaggered over, letting Eliot take in the curve of his hips and his startling red glowing eyes before he stopped just out of arm's reach.

"Nice moves, cher," he drawled, some rich warm accent curling his words into something suggestive.

Eliot grinned in reply. "Not so bad yerself," he nodded. "Ya got anywhere to be any time soon?" he asked, gesturing back at the case the men had been defending. "I gotta get this back to my employer."

"Oh, cher. An' I t'ought we'd get 'long so well." The mutant sighed theatrically. "Dat case? She comin' wit' Remy."

Eliot breathed a beat, and then squared off. He'd never fought a mutant before. But he was always up for a new challenge. "Ya sure about that?"
