"You moron," Eliot said, giving Alec a hand up and checking him over carefully, looking for injuries. He slapped him on the back once, nearly hard enough to knock him back over again, when he was sure he wasn't hurt.
"I'm not teaching you this again, man. If you didn't learn the first time…" Alec was still grumbling when he sat down in front of the computer and booted it up, pulling up the program like he'd been expecting this all along.
"There's something wrong with you," Eliot said, but there wasn't anything sharp about it, followed by a gentle smile as he watched Parker try to juggle while standing on her head. When she threw Eliot the three balls he joined right in.
"I'm not scared," Parker objected, shifting on the spot for a second and then crossing the room to stand between Eliot and Alec. There hadn't really been enough room between them, but neither of them moved away as she pressed herself between them.
"I'm a bad man," Eliot said, shooting Sophie a wicked grin. But he opened the car door for her later, and lent her his jacket when it started raining and she was in nothing but her ball gown. He'll never let her get hurt.
"It's horrible to watch," Sophie told him, gesturing at the screen like a second look would convince Eliot of the horror in the violence displayed there. She didn't take her eyes off it though, even as the stronger fighter steps in close and throws the other to the ground.
They're a group of conmen and thieves, trained to lie and deceive. Living off that skill.
That should worry Nate more, but Eliot's never told him he loves him. Not once. And Nate can read it in every tiny action, every moment while they're together. Eliot catches him watching and smiles warmly. Nate knows.
