(Hopefully) Gonna (be able to without getting distracted) play catch up with quite a few days worth of backlog.
Today
In general, today was a nice fun day.
The Good stuff:
Point 1) I had enjoyable lessons!
1.1 It started with Gp: Finished watching Gattuca, which was a fantastically crafted, well-crafted, riveting, and touching movie about eugenics taken to the extreme. Like the poignant ending in which Jerome immolates himself as Vincent's rocket fuel ignites. Loved it when Uma Thurman mirrored Jerome's 'oops I dropped the strand of hair, the wind must have blown it away' thing. Love seeing parallels (which reminds me why I love sentai and especially the use of Akashi's signature 'Attack!' by Sakura twice... But I digress.) We had a little discussion about the show and Cally brought up many astute points (as usual) some of which i didn't catch such as the silver medal symbolically turning to gold as the flames reflected in it. We also did the Times question. As usual, I did the only part I like: the vocab part and started reading the rest of the articles that caught my fancy like the one criticising POTC 2 for its overuse of CGI. Much as I'm inclined to agree with the writer's argumen (even without watching the show), people need to give the show a break.
2) Got back bio. Just made it to a D. Thank God! Mrs Foo didn't praise the class like she told Mrs Tan she would, but at least she didn't slam us either. She did however mention that though our class average awas low (third from bottom), we still had good students amingst us. I'll take that as praise. Mrs Tan and Mrs Cheng (or was it Ms yang) kept chattering quietly to each other and snickering at all of Mrs Foo's jokes. And Mrs Foo had lots of them. She was apparently asked by Mrs Tan to scold us which she openly confirmed with Mrs Tan in front of everyone and she also asked if she had covered all the scolding points yet. Haha. But anyway, she also drove home the point that I need to start studying hard and soon.
3) Lit: What can I say? Lit with Ms Lim can only ever be a hoot. The flower poems crack her up ever so much. Really, she's too cynical to do Blake cos altho he takes himself seriously , what he writes is sometimes quite silly looking. Talked to Eddie about Lit after school and we both agree that we're not confident for GOST or Blake. Although as Edmund was saying, at least things are getting better for GOST lessons, which we shoud be grateful for. Mrs Ang has been in an inexplicable and almost frightening good modd for the past tutorials. In spite of the fact that she said they provided lousy evidence last week, it lacked the usual bite she often (unconsciously?) imbues.
4) Inline Skating. One word -FUN! Surprisingly (or maybe not so) I didn't really fall, only once. Did manage to pull the mucles in the sides of my legs though, wonder if it'll hurt the next morning. Still have problems moving forward. Instructor didn't pass me at the end for V-walk, ready roll, scissors then brake sequence as my braking was too abrupt but I kinda expected not to pass. At least it was a new skill learnt (never figure myself for the blading type) which i enjoy and may pursue more in the future. If there was a more accessible place to rent skates (not Pasir Ris or East Coast) and if I weren't potentially busy on Sat, i would go practice more. Ah well. Was pretty unglam in trying to put on and remove the blades cos my fat foot was too broad to allow easy slipping on and off. Kept having to lift the leg higher and tug v hard and undo all the straps/ catches/laces. Sigh.
5) Rapidshare worked enough for me to d/l aba 22. Am happy now. Had a feeling since i read jillun's summaries of Aba and Hurri that I'd like the shows and have been proven right so far. Current fave characters are Asuka, Yukito and (sson to come) Nakadai. Watched the teamups for aba-deka, aba-hurri, hurri-gao, gao-ss between today and yesterday. Am officially a Gourajier fan now. The two of them have sexy manly voices, especially when they call for the Jinrai change. Swoons. Esp love Ikkou with short spiky hair. <3<3 Enjoyed most of them altho deka vs aba was unsubbed so I cld hardly follow anything, tho fortch oddsentai or ogre uploaded a subbed version which i just downloaded. gao vs SS was mainly a clipshow which was fascinating since I'm late to catch on with SS and this was a good glimpse of the tradition. The downside however was that it tended to get overly drawn out, seemingly pointless and boring at times. So glad that I've found SPE and TokuBrasil and Rangerboard as good sources for toku.
Found the following fantastic sites for toku( kr and sentai) fans like me :)
Final Aura Burst lj- updates about anything and everything toku. when the latest eps are out, fanfiction, thoughts. my kind of place. d(^_^)b
But for some strange reason, many pple on this community seem to enjoy Masumi/Sakura which I think is a very odd and kind of incomprehenshible kind of pairing. I have seen no basis from the show now even a shred of a reason why they might be attracted to each other/ get together. Then again, I'm biased. Akashi/Sakura all the way!!!! Or actually, I am inclined to think that everyone is possible with Akashi. Especially Eiji and Akashi. With 2 hot guys with interesting and contrasting personalities paired together, the possibilities are endless! Surprise, surprise, there's even already an Akashi/Takaoka slash fic up already. The homoerotic vibes I've been getting from them since ep17 are not going away, though I suspect it will be broken in 21 with the focus being on Eiji and Masumi. The preview looks really hil;larious and as usual I'm all psyched up for this ep.
Tokidoki/ capncosmo's lj.- this is one fantastic writer/blogger. like reading the accounts and am very very glad to find another Boukenger + fanfic writing fan besides Mariko Asrael. She has a lot of interesting things to write about in her blog and she gives fantastic analytical mini-essays on Sentai characters, of which I am particularly (and predictably) drawn to her Boukenger ones) Doh! This has been my star find of the day. She comes across as mature in her writing style, something which I particularly admire and this reminds me to write my age. I have been finding the tone in the previous entries a little childish so maybe I should tone down on that. Yes! Apparently Capncosmo is not just a Satoru fan *huggles* but a Satoru/Sakura fan *squees and runs off to hug Capncosmo to death*. ConclusioN: Must make a Boukenger squee post per week to release the pent up Boukenger love (since no one else around me is even as remotely in love with the show and Akashi as I am.)
Checked out Takahashi MItsuomi's blog again. He has put up 2 new entries since I last visited (monday I believe). And it was not just 2 new entries, but 2 new entries with pictures! Squee!
Somethings i've come to realise about Takahashi MItsuomi:
1) his fave pose is (^_^)V
2) he loves food and loves taking unglamorous pictures of himself eating
3) he loves taking random photos in which he can't be seen
Why taka-san? Why are you hiding your gorgeousness from the world? I still love reading his blog anyhow, despite my highly limited ability to understand anything (hiragana and katakana reading/recognition practice mainly) Granted, he does blog about the most seemingly random of things like the temperature and I believe there was something bad for health. Do love to see when he talks about Boukenger and especially the other Bouken boys. I'd like to think that they are all close and chummy and there maybe be some evidence as they have synchronised their blog pics before ( one at the pier, one in the forest and one posing in front of the statue during one of the roadshows). It's alaso a way for me to find out what kind of person he is in real life. Conclusion: he's a cutie both personality-wise and looks-wise. ME hearts Taka-san!!!!
