Sword of Shame

by The Medieval Murderers (Michael Jecks, Bernard Knight, Ian Morson, Susanna Gregory, Philip Gooden), 2006.

An interesting concept: A group of authors take on the assignment of telling stories about the history of a (fictional) sword, from its creation in Exeter, England in 1195 through its discovery in the modern times, including stops in Venice (1262); the Battle of Poitiers (1356); Ickleton (1604).

Some of the stories were interesting; others, rather "meh," depending on the skill of the author, I guess. The book itself felt old, as the pages are already yellowing, yet it can't be more than 10 years old.

historical fiction, sword, medieval times
