I'm on the income contingent plan for Direct Loans, and I'm worrying about what the increase is going to be to my payments now that i have a better paying job, cuz that will be a bit of an influence on my affording rent thing. I got a letter a couple of months ago where they dropped my payment a month down by a dollar, but I'm not sure if I'm going to have to submit new paystubs again soon. I'm thinking about calling and asking if that will happen, but I also worry that that will draw attention and cause them to do so. What do you think - am I being too paranoid?
In other news, I talked to mom for an hour. I think there was a point where my brain made itself unconscious as a self defense mechanism. Though she did let me know that she might have to stop paying for my car insurance. It's probably something that should have happened a while ago, but with the one place that I'm looking at for living, plus expenses, I'll only have about $140 at the end of each month (out of 1620 - I'm not including any potential overtime hours since I'm not SURE about those). And I don't have health insurance yet. How is it that the miracle-better-paying-job still isn't enough for me to live on? Not to mention that I'm constantly worried that I'm not going to get fast and proficient enough with the myriad of systems we use and that they'll fire me.
Right now, the main place I'm looking at (besides the cheap, but 20 minutes away via 695 and only until the end of January apt) is one that will be 781/month. there are some good deals: 99 deposit and though I have to pay a full month's rent at move in it's prorated off the next month I pay. And if I move in before the end of Nov. then I get a month free. But I'd have to pay all utilities. The lady wasn't sure how much BG&E would be for electricity (something like, 150 is my usual experience >.<) but the water, sewer, heating ranges from 35-100/month. currently, my loan payments are about 55. all I need is internet, so that'll probably be about 90 from comcast (how I loathe them). gas, let's say 100, not including trips to see anyone. food, if I'm stingy and don't eat out at all, 200 (since I've been known to buy 100 that only lasts for half a month).
There's one other place that's closer to work (like a minute, really) would be 669/month, but I don't know any other particulars. I should have gone to the others saturday i had looked up, but the places that are the price range i wanted (a studio or something that's in the 500s) are in crappier neighborhoods or have reviews that include "bedbugs." some are close, but, um, ick? plus, my mom has made a valid point (and I'll deny that if anyone tells her) and my car isn't getting any younger. some of the cheaper places are 20-ish minutes away (via places, again, fraught with traffic).
Plus, this is really the first time I'm doing this alone. and we all know I'm a lazy sod. the fact that I'm even somewhat in a place, is good news this close to move out.
seriously, I'd like it if something good happened, and then NOT be followed by awful. I don't need the perspective to appreciate at this point - honest. I wouldn't even mind if it was followed not by other good stuff, but merely neutral. I would LOVE neutral. Seriously. Any time now.
Also, how is my scalp more dry and flaky after I wash it with head and shoulders? wtf?
