A capslock filled Hobbit Reaction

Dec 23, 2012 18:11

So... I just got back from seeing The Hobbit. I have to say, I was a little concerned coming in because, while I'd heard some good things about it, I'd also heard a lot of bad. I don't think the criticisms I've heard are false, for the most part, but... I have to say, I wound up not really caring. I didn't care that it was long and unnecessarily padded in places. It just... made me really happy. It brought back that special feeling of adventure and charm that I associate with this story (from the Rankin/Bass animated film, possibly even more than the book, admittedly). It's really... nice when a movie can fill me with childlike glee and take me back to some of how I felt when I was a kid, without triggering any shameful "I was such a dumbass when I was a kid" type of backlash from my own brain. So yay for that!

Highlights for me included Radagast, the fact that they included more songs than just the one in the trailer, and anything in the entire sequence in the caverns of the Misty Mountains--Part of that last highlight is because the riddles in the dark scene was one I was really waiting for and I think they pulled it off very well. Part of it is just because EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH GOBLINS.

David Bowie, you've been replaced.

YEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

I AWAIT MORE GIANT FUCKING SPIDERS AND SMAUG WITH BATED BREATH!
