Day 5 Santorini Greece

I love panoramic tours, especially if you have a great guide. Ours today was Costa with beautiful light green eyes who told us so much about Santorini and how it used to be a complete circle and now is a broken circle of islands. It arose from a volcano though half of this large island is limestone and the volcanic areas are black and RED!! As you can see by the pictures (hopefully two) you see the housing of this area of Greece and shake your head and say yes, those are beautiful Greek houses, but then you see what they are on top of and your breath is taken away by the shear magnitude of forces that created these beautiful islands so many millions of years ago. At least I never thought of it this way. If you want to be taken away somewhere with history plus beautiful sights-come to Greece and begin with Santorini. They have earthquakes quite regularly but the last bad one was in 1956. You'd never know it today. For a close up look watch the movie (on HBO) called the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The last part takes place in Santorini
