Home for the day. Toby's sick, and Howard's out of town. Probably home tomorrow, too, given that he's still got a fever, and there's no way that he'll be fever-free for 24 hours before school. He'd be lucky to be fever-free for 12.

So since Trevor's gone, Toby and I are watching some of the Harry Potter movies. Well, I meant to be cleaning, but I'm sucked in. We watched PoA this morning, and are watching GoF right now. I haven't watched this since it first came out. It feels so rushed, although it pretty much has to be. But I did have fun as I watched the kids putting their names into the Goblet of Fire, because I took that time and entered my name into the New York Marathon lottery.

I did forget just how much I don't like what they did with Ron in the movies, especially with GoF. There's one horrible little moment where Cedric puts his name in and Ron waves, implying that a love of celebrity is huge to Ron. Which, given Harry's status, sucks. I mean, yes, Ron worships Krum, but that's because Krum is a Quidditch player and a damn good one, too. But it's not because Krum is famous. But I think most everyone I know is on the same page with movie!Ron vs. book!Ron, and agreeing that book!Ron >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> movie!Ron.

Still debating what we're going to do with regards to our Florida trip , but I think Disney is going to win out over Universal. We're only doing 1-2 days. I sat down one day and put together spread sheets for all four Disney parks plus the two Universal parks, and all the attractions at each one and if Toby, Trevor, and Bill would be interested in doing it. Hollywood Studios is definitely out- there are some attractions, but it doesn't seem like there's as much as there is at the other parks. Sadly, Animal Kingdom is out, because the ticket prices for all of the Disney parks are all the same price (or close enough), and EPCOT and Magic Kingdom close at 9, and Animal Kingdom closes at 5. So it comes down to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT vs. Universal.

If we do Disney, we can get my parents cheaper tickets since they are Florida residents. And then we could go two days. If we do Universal, we could still do two days, because the two day ticket price is cheaper than the Disney two day ticket price. So cost is about the same for the two.

On the one hand, I REALLY want to take Toby to Harry Potter world. On the other hand, Trevor hasn't read the books and is showing a lot of resistance to even reading the first one. Might be more worth it to wait until he's not resisting it just because Toby likes it. A lot of the rides at Universal are also themed around things my kids haven't seen. Some of those- like E.T. and Men in Black, are not only easily rectified, but should be. In fact, maybe we'll watch MIB tonight. But some are things like The Simpsons and Terminator, which they're still young for. And Trevor- who is my roller coaster fan- is too small for some of them. And Toby is still reluctant on a lot of rides. But I think the big deciding factor might be Bill. Bill can't handle thrill rides at all, and really likes shows. Disney might be better for Bill- slow rides and lots of shows.

(By the way, the one thing I do love about the GoF movie than the book is that Neville is the one that tells Harry about the gillyweed.)

I suspect this year is a Magic Kingdom/EPCOT year. In a few years, maybe fall of 2016, I really want to do Disney as a full vacation, preferably with my sister's family and my parents. I want to stay at the hotels and do the full week, with the Park Hoppers and the water parks if it's warm enough and all that. So that makes Universal seem a little more attractive. But Bill. I don't know. I suspect Disney will win out (and who am I kidding? I'm dying to go. The main problem is I'm dying to go to both.)

Anyway, anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? For if we do go to one or the other? Can't miss rides or attractions or restaurants?

I should go make myself useful- at least fold laundry or something. Not sure how I'm going to handle anything tonight- I plan on seeing what the doctor has to say about Toby. If he's got a virus or a sinus infection I can take Trevor to swim lessons, but if he's got the flu, we're under house arrest or whatever. We shall see.

Hope everyone is having a good day!
