(no subject)
A bit wiped. I decided to be hardcore today and ran 10 miles outside. As it snowed. Well, it wasn't snowing when I left and it didn't come down THAT hard, but it was brutal when the wind blew it in my face, or more accurately, snow in my eyes. But it was a good run. I shoveled when I came home (it wasn't much- two inches, max), and then took a shower and went grocery shopping. It resumed snowing, and later, I went out to shovel the driveway. I saw my neighbors leave, and I decided to pay a few things forward and shovel their driveway. This was a mistake, because they had some issues last snowstorm and didn't get their driveway completely shoveled, so it was all packed down and a mess. I managed to get some of it cleared, but it wasn't the quick easy job I thought it would be. (And of course, once you start, you can't just walk away.) Oh well.
We watched the PHD movie last night. While it's clearly an amateur effort and I kept identifying jokes lifted straight from the strip, which can be a little jarring, we enjoyed watching it. Especially because all he needed was an Australian accent and Professor Smith could have easily been one of our old professors. In fact, we spent a good portion of the movie assigning roles to people we knew in grad school. The scary part is very few roles went unassigned. (Neither of us personally knew a Tajel, but I have absolutely no doubt several were running around the campus.) I also discovered that despite the fact I left grad school 12 years ago, the words, "So, how's research?" still strike fear into my heart.
Almost done the kids' second rewatch of Avatar. So good. :) One of these days we will convince hubby to watch it.
Doing fondue tonight, which is our way of having a nice evening and not paying the babysitter. :) Guess I should go work on making that, although I want to work on my exchange fic, too. Hopefully later tonight.
