America is classist, deeply broken. From the education system to the health system to the National Suicide Hotline, abuse runs absolutely rampant.
Police brutality is specifically horrific to me today. My triggers were going off reading about Matthew Corrigan and if I ever relapse into depression: my brain once again getting wires crossed, or good old homophobia making me lose faith I'll ever be happy, no, accepted. A hotline is supposed to help, and here I am now terrified of my supposed confidential call being used against me in insurance claims. This poor man who already suffered violently, now has large PTSD and was looking for help, was triggered to the point he had to stay in the hospital solely because of the police violence against him. His pets were killed or seized, his home ransacked! And to him, the only message he has gotten out of this was that he should have never asked for help. He should have never trusted the system. He should have continued dealing with it alone, in silence. That is a sickening message. I would waste breath saying the police department should be ashamed, but all the police brutality in the past years have especially embittered me to the point I don't believe these monsters will receive more than a pat on the wrist - a comforting one even! - let alone miss a wink of sleep over this.
Murder, abuse, political bullshit, rape goes on my f-list every day. Some even more horrific than this, and I can "carry on" with my day after exchanging words with others about the topic, or sending some e-mails or making choice calls to the establishments in my area. I don't know why this specific series of posts hit me so hard today. They just did. I'll look at them as straws to my metaphorical camel, I just needed to vent.
