The weekend is going so nicely! I had a really nice Friday with the kids. I came home and picked up some stuff and headed to Bridget's for dinner. We made sping rolls with peanut sauce (turned out really good!) we also made Thai curry..........then for dessert Bridget pulled out a beautiful, totally boss cake from the freezer!!! It was so sweet!
You may know we don't have ovens so you gotta know this was boss and really creative. Pancake mix in Japan is basically cake mix. I made pancakes last time from the mix and pretty much felt like I was eating flat cupcakes. Anyhoo she had made these three beautiful same shaped pancakes, pretty thick and stacked with pudding and strawberries layered in between. Then (oh, this is good)instead of frosting it she just covered it in chocolate, like straight up melted from the bar the smothered all over the cake to make a beautiful brown shell. The top was then decorated with cool carved strawberry formations and crispy ginger cookies! It was so boss. So, fat and happy we nuzzled under the kotatsu which knocked me out immediatley. Ha. Then this morning I went into Higashi Sanjo for a little clay time with my buddy Mariko and her teacher Mr. Maruyama-sama. I made an ornamental thing and some chopstick rests which are in the shape of chesnuts and kinda odd looking. Mr. Maruyama kept playing around with them afterward and looking at them strangly like maybe he didn't quite agree with my choice of clay stabbing tools. He and Mariko where total jems. They showed me all around the studio and we visited and such. Then we worked on little projects together and Mr. Maruyama took us out for lunch and toasted to orange juice and beer. I had a great time!
Now it's on to the projects!
