Everyone hates me here!
I thought a good way to meet people and try to make friends might be to volunteer for con-staff. Hell, even being put to work doing the lowliest of grunt work is better than sitting around being ignored and/or ridiculed! I made my way to the volunteer desk and asked if they could use any of my many talents. But nooooo! I was told they had no need for anyone specializing in whining, sniveling, or histrionics and that all those positions had been filled long before the con. They wouldn't even let me man the desk ('cuz they said I might scare off the other workers)!
