I'm reading Dostoyevsky's The Brothers Karamazov right now - I'm more than halfway done with it, and loving every minute - and it has brought to mind a disturbing idea.  You know how Disney has this nasty habit of corrupting and destroying great literature?  I mean, this is the company that turned Victor Hugo's Hunchback of Notre Dame, one of the greatest Romantic tragedies ever, into a happy-go-lucky singing and dancing cartoon musical.  In short, they have no shame.  So why not take it that half-step further into macro-total depravity, and do to Brothers K what they did to Hunchback?  It's a tale of lust, murder, rebellion against god, the torture of the soul, and passionate hatred - talk about the feel-good movie of the year!  Can't you picture it?  Angels and devils would come down and intervene in every moment of spiritual crisis, the furniture would talk (and squeal in pain as it gets thrown around the room), and there'd be a touching (and mildly trippy) song and dance number over Fyodor Karamazov's grave!  I think I have a hit here.
