1000 cranes for Makiko

Mar 19, 2011 11:24

Yesterday I could finally make the donation thought Red Cross Argentina. Let's hope other people here and in other countries will do it too ♥.
What's more, I have something I would like to share with you. The original entry is written in Spanish, by a Japanese girl called Makiko. Since I trust there will be people interested about this project in my friend list, I decided to translate the entry for you (I know my English sucks, but well, you will understand the idea anyways).
Here I go:

"My name is Makiko. I'm a Japanese girl living in Madrid since one year ago. As you may know, there was a big earthquake in Japan on 11th March. This earthquake emotionally affected me very much. Until late Friday morning I heard nothing about my people, I didn't knew if they were dead or alive. Despite my family and friends are ok, it causes me a lot of pain to watch news from Japan. So, I had an idea. The plan is that every single person make a crane origami. To help you how to do it, I made a video explaining how to do it:

I would like that every person could take a picture with the crane and send it to me to this email address: las1000grullas@gmail.com

In Japan, we are used to make 1000 cranes to make a wish come true. That's why I need your help to encourage my country and specially the people in the affected areas. Once we have 1000 cranes, we will send them to our friends in the north of Japan, that so many help and encourage they will need.

Thank you very much for your interest and I hope that each other and making this effort, we can make that wish come true.

Arigato ありがとう Makiko 真紀子

Please, pass this idea to all those people you think might be interested."

For English speakers, if you still don't get how to make a crane, here you have a very good English tutorial.
I don't what you think, but the project touched me very, very much, so I decided to make five cranes on behalf of my family (I personally think Sasaki Sadako's story is already beautiful. This one is already another one). She already has 1000 cranes, but she said she won't stop the project until the last crane arrives to her email address.
I decided to share this with you because she asked to pass the idea to the ones who I think that might be interested ♥.
