2/2/07 (ha, it's right no matter where you are!)

Today was a really, really excellent day. This is mostly because of my really, really excellent lunch. I promised myself a treat today (for getting through the first week of classes, for being Friday, for…just because) so at lunch, I headed out for the nearest Burger King and bought myself a burger, fries, and a milkshake. I got the kids’ meal because it was cheaper, so I got a toy, too! ;) It was absolutely divine.

Anyway, so that was comforting, and work today was really good, too. I finished up the 1940s thing before drafting a letter to students telling them how to register for a class they’d said they were interested in. After that, my supervisor didn’t have anything for me so I wrote one of my essays for my scholarship application.

Then I went to my Criminal Justice class. Had a minor scare within five minutes as the prof said, “Right, so welcome to ASC103” (I’m in 102) but he had just misspoken. Whew! He’s one of those professors who doesn’t take any crap, either, so he was miffed at the people who came in late and gave us all a lecture about how we’re not in school or college any more, we’re in university. Reminds me of last semester’s film prof, actually…

Anyway, but he’s a fun prof (with a lovely Northern accent ala Christopher Eccleston) who’s big on “higher-order thinking” and I think I’m going to enjoy the class. Despite being mildly lost when he asked us to put all the steps of the criminal justice system in order, I actually managed to get most of it right and judging by a conversation I heard behind me about “what’s prosecution and verdict?” I think I’m at least on-level with the class. We even have a short break in this class because it’s two hours. Today during the break, the prof came up to me and asked if I was taking notes or playing games on my computer! I assured him I was taking notes ;), but at least I’ve been noticed.

I’m having baked beans with some cheese on with my last biscuit tonight. It’s quite good (though not as good as lunch! It’s going to take some serious self-discipline not to do that every day) and I think this day is going to end as it’s been going: really well. :D

What a great way to end the week!

(Apparently my mood is paying homage to my Northern prof...)
