Dude, tonight was simply AWESOME.
Counterstrike
Interesting episode. I missed most of the cold start but I don't think that was very much. I like the friend/enemy aspect of the Jaffa (interesting to see David Andrews in that role, but cool!) and the angst that causes Teal'c. Liked seeing Adria again, and her very strange dynamic with Vala. Ooh, nice exchange between Daniel and Vala about Sha're. Honestly, I'm liking the friendship and possibly ship more and more...
And the ending couple of lines were pretty awesome. Vala's gravity really added to the scene.
Hehe, the couple of back-and-forths about Dr. Phil were pretty good, too.
Common Ground
WOW. That's about all I've got to say. (But since it's Atlantis, of course I have to say more.)
The age-effects were really well done and I was literally going "whoa" "eek" "yikes" and "WHAT?!" the whole episode. Really wondered how they were going to undo that. (Wondered briefly IF they would...I actually wrote a fic a little while back about Shep being Wraithed but it turned out, obviously, rather differently).
Okay, I TOTALLY LOVED the dynamic between Sheppard and the Wraith (who needs a name...) The anger in the cell which developed into a grudging acknowledgment and then the working together but totally not trusting each other arc was AWESOME. They both played it really well. (Although the Wraith's voice was markedly different than usual. D'you think they got a lot of complaints about not being able to understand them? Hmm.)
Sheppard's expression, I think it was the second time he was being fed on, was AMAZING. The emotion conveyed in one look was simply wow. Heart-wrenching, too, cuz he looked like he was about to cry.
And the rest of the team was awesome as well. Ronon sure talked a lot. But McKay with the mouse!! Hee!! When he fired, I totally knew it was something innocuous but it was hilarious to see him try and explain to the team. (By the way, I loved having him there, but WHY did they let him go on a very military sort of mission? Carson I can sort of justify with the medical and/or gene thing. But Rodney really has no business being there...ah, well, he performed nicely.)
Kolya as a villain was great. He's the Apophis of Atlantis, sort of. Just keeps popping up. But he's kind of Ba'al, too, in his intelligent and calculating sadism...
And Canadian gate tech guy got LINES!! Besides "Unauthorized off-world activation" and "It's Colonel Sheppard's IDC, ma'am" etc. That was AWESOME. He's getting a name soon, I hope. And if it's Chuck, I'll laugh.
OOOOOOOhh, and how about that preview!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR TWO WEEKS!!! Leather Jacket! On Rodney!! WHeeee!!
