In responce to the bolded question -
My book of shadows is very....i guess i'm very picky about what i put into it. eventually, i'd like to make my own, one of those huge stereotype books you see in movies like Practical magic, just becuase i like the look of them. plus if there are herb samples and and drawings and fetheres attatched to them, they've got a bit more history and a bit of reference in them.
But for now i've got two. One i bought for myself years and years ago which i've tried to make look fancy more than actually putting in useful knowledge. The second one is the one i've put my actual knowings and some notes. A friend bought it for me for my birthday mainly because it matched my tatoo, not knowing it had the sign of Diana on it.
I'm still quite picky about what i put into it because i only want to put important things in it. I fear running out of space. though when i get bored i put my colored pencils to it to give it a slightly more artistic look to it.
I dont know, what would you think is most important to put into a book of spells if you dont' create your own spells very often? i put phases of the moon and what have you, color references, a few herbal properties and so on.
however, one thing i would like to know, is does February 29th, coming only once every four years - have any magickal properties to it? are there any rituales, rites, charms, anything - that do well on this day? i'mr eally bad at celebrating the holidays, as my jobs don't reconize the spring equanox as a good enough excuse to have off work (though i do try ;) ), and so by the time i'm off work all i have enough energy for is to wish a blessing and maybe light a candle. however, this year i want to try and do things properly, now tha i have my own magickal space.
So, does any one know of anything for the 29th?
cheers
