Hello all...

I have a question.

I tried to take care of a bonsai a couple of years back. Friend of mine bought me a serrisa foet, and I found out the hard way that they like to die when breathed upon in a fashion they don't like. I want to attempt to grow a bonsai again.

My questions are...

I'm leaning toward an ash or cedar tree. I have friends in the area that would let me attempt to cut off of their own large scale trees. Would this be preferable to trying to grow one from seed? Or from buying a small plant from a nursery?

Which is easier to grow and handle? Cedar or ash?

Do you have any recommendations for someone attempting to learn the art of bonsai?

Thanks for your time.

Raen.
