So, my
first bonsai (a Chinese Elm) arrived today! :)
It looks a little more heavy in branches/leaves, and generally a bit older than this picture now. A little less well-tended too, but it's pretty close. If anyone has thoughts on future training techniques that would suit it, I'd appreciate that :)
A few things I'm wondering about, though: first of all, a few of the leaves have little black spots. Very few leaves, though, and in random places. One of the leaves that has holes in the center, which are rimmed with the same blackness. So I'm not sure if this is a disease, or just the natural process of dying leaves on elms?
Also, I'd like to display this on a windowsill, facing the way it is in the picture. The light will encourage it to grow in the opposite direction if I do that. It won't spoil this style of bonsai to have a good balance of leaves front and back, will it?
Thanks :)
