Proposed Revision (temporary) to FAQ 38

Aug 04, 2008 21:19

Currently, FAQ38 isn't very shiny related to the current unavailability of Basic Accounts. The first paragraph currently reads:

Yes, you can use LiveJournal for free. LiveJournal has five account types: Basic, Early Adopter, Plus, Paid, and Permanent. All LiveJournal accounts can use LiveJournal core features, such as posting entries and comments, customizing journal appearance, and participating in communities. New accounts (created after March 12, 2008) may choose between Plus and Paid account levels. For additional features, you can purchase a Paid Account ( benefits) or upgrade to a Plus Account ( benefits). A feature comparison chart is available.

The sentence which I have bolded and italicized doesn't really fit if you don't have a Basic account... any account which you create after March 12 of this year (until the Basic account level is reinstated) is automatically plus (IIRC). Therefore, I propose the following wording (links omitted). The specific change is in red.

Yes, you can use LiveJournal for free. LiveJournal has five account types: Basic, Early Adopter, Plus, Paid and Permanent. All LiveJournal accounts can use LiveJournal core features, such as posting entries and comments, customizing journal appearance, and participating in communities. However, accounts created after March 12, 2008 are not eligible for the Basic account level and can only be created as Plus or Paid accounts. Users who currently have a Basic account (created before March 12, 2008) can select a Plus or Paid account level for access to premium features but they will not be permitted to revert back to Basic. A feature comparison chart is available.

I know this is probably running up against the change when basic will be allowed again, but since the exact decision hasn't been made, might be a worthwhile change?
