I think it might also be worth pointing out that there *is* no maximum number of Loyalty Userpics you can get. The number commonly quoted as the maximum is merely the number you'd get if you paid for enough time to go back to when LJ began. It's actually possible for a Paid user to get more userpics than a Permanent user if they pay enough.
Let me make that a bit clearer since that wasn't very clear.
Today is 13th January, 2008. The quoted 'maximum' number of loyalty userpics, 40, is based on what would you would have if you'd had a Paid account from since 1999 (I believe? I can't be bothered to work out the maths right now :D). In other words, 8 years.
Now, *if* a user were to create a Paid account and spend enough money now to secure their account for the next 8 years, they would gain a number of userpics equal to the quoted 'maximum' number. If they paid for more than 8 years' worth in advance, they would get more than that number. If they then combined that with the userpic addon, they'd have more userpics than a Permanent user.
Of course, existing Paid users may already have a number of Loyalty Userpics, so they may have to pay less than one who didn't have any.
(Believe it or not, we actually had a Support request asking about this very thing, by someone who had already bought enough Paid time to get up to the 'maximum' number and was wondering if she would get any more userpics if she bought more time.)
