Welcome to Release #3 -- "Endive"! We don't have a huge list of changes this time around -- a small handful of bugs, a small handful of minor enhancements, and then a small handful of bigger changes. As always, feel free to comment if anything gang aft agley -- we'll be watching.

Backend Changes -- No User-Facing Changes

• Retooling the login code (once and for all!) to remove duplicated code
  
• Retooling the behavior of friends birthdays display
  
• Efficiency-related updates for loading styles
• Retooling the backend code for VGifts

Bugs

• Fix the display of the Update Journal page after you post to a moderated community
• Fix the Mobile Friends page to correctly identify whether you're using Mobile View, Default View, or neither
• Don't send out a "you've been friended" notification if you re-friend someone already on your Friends list
• Specified security for posts made with TxtLJ is now case-insensitive
• Admin Console reference now only shows the commands you can execute
• Updated a bunch of pages to properly enforce the Friends limit
• Fixing bug where "next payment date" was incorrect in emails for automatic payments
• Fix bug where some entries will get stuck in communities' moderation queues

Updates/Enhancements -- Kinda Major

• New logged-out version of the LJ homepage!
• Adding a wizard that guides people through getting started with LJ after creating an account
  
• Adding a "notify me when one of my friends gets a virtual gift" notification
• Updates to the menus in Horizon, based on feedback we've gotten
• Beta release of the long-awaited Vertigo!
• Moving the "Guiding Principles" page to "About LiveJournal" and brush the dust off that page

Updates/Enhancements -- Less Major

• Larger arrows on the Edit Friends page
• Subscribing to an entry/thread will automatically check off the "Email" notification option
• Accepting an invite to a community automatically adds it to your Friends list
• Having your membership request to a community approved will also add it to your Friends list
• For community moderators: "There is a new post in the queue" email will link directly to the post in the queue
• Modifying ad placement for logged-in Plus users on site pages
• A bunch of new "Did You Know" modules
• news, lj_maintenance, lj_spotlight auto-added to Friends list instead of giving the option (can be removed later)
• The "Ping Weblogs.com" option on has returned
• Removed the two alternate versions of the profile (?ver=ng and ?ver=v2), since they're getting stale and unstable
