Polymorphic Entries Galore!

Ever wanted your LiveJournal entries to update themselves? Well, if you have a server of your own, you can play around with this code! Otherwise, drool over this entry in my journal. If enough people are interested in this sort of silly thing, I might be interested in setting up a customizable service for anyone ( Read more... )

Pardon me, but could you give an example of what this code does? I don't understand "update themselves".

The journal entry tells you who viewed the entry from where. So, you can tell by some of the links that people read the entry off his friend's list because it says they came from lj.com/user/friends.

The "updating itself" part basically mean the entry changes as the information changes. All that code you see above helps do that.

There are easier (but less detailed) ways of doing it. The updating itself is pretty neat, but you still have to go through the LJ interface :(

Quite so.

Another way to fool it would be to directly link to that img in an entry of yours, and then have the user think that all of YOUR friends are reading his journal.

And don't hate on samplefakeusername! He has a lot of friends and he was busy at work today. He can't ALWAYS have time for lj.
